Biography of Jody Luebbers

Honorable Judge Jody M. LuebbersA hometown girl, born and raised in Cincinnati, Jody Luebbers is proud to carry on a judicial family tradition. Her great-uncle Al Luebbers served as a Hamilton County Municipal Court judge for over 20 years. In 1965, Jody's father, Joseph A. Luebbers, was elected to the first of five consecutive terms as a Municipal Court judge. Now, Jody is honored to follow in her family's distinguished footsteps by virtue of her appointment as a Judge on the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. When making the appointment, Governor Strickland declared, "Jody brings to the bench a distinguished legal career and history of community involvement. She has demonstrated a high standard of professionalism and integrity that will be a great asset to her judicial service."

Jody graduated from Ursuline Academy and went on to obtain a degree in Public Administration from Miami University. While working full-time as a law clerk and constable for Judge Robert Gorman and Judge Richard Niehaus, she attended night classes at Chase College of Law. After law school, Jody worked for eight years as an assistant prosecuting attorney in the Juvenile, Municipal, and Common Pleas courts of Hamilton County. Jody has tried hundred of cases, from speeding tickets and thefts to domestic violence, rape, and capital murder.

After extensive experience prosecuting cases, Jody spent the next six years working in private practice at Fox and Fox LPA where she broadened her background to include civil litigation. She handled a full range of workers' compensation cases, personal injury cases, social security claims, unemployment hearings and criminal defense work.

Honorable Judge Jody M. LuebbersIn 2005, Jody returned to the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office to serve Joe Deters as his Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Municipal Court. In this position, Jody made decisions regarding the filing of charges and negotiating pleas, as well as trying cases. All 10 Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys in Municipal Court reported directly to her as she supervised them and helped fine tune their skills as trial attorneys.

Even with such a busy career, Jody always finds time for her community, her friends and her family. Happily married for 15 years, Jody and her husband Brian are the proud parents of two children. Jody has volunteered her time as a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout co-leader and as an active member of several All Saints Parish committees where she, Brian, and their children have been members for nine years. Jody is also an active member of the Cincinnati Bar Association and for several years has served as a representative on the Hamilton County Police Chiefs Association. Jody has also been involved with Women Helping Women, a support group that reaches out to domestic violence victims, and is a supporter of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.
